Don't do that. Tarballs on GitHub (as for a commits as well as for a release) do not contain git submodules. You'll unable to build tarantool from such tarball. Use tarballs from download.tarantool.org.

Nobody said "tarballs on github". The URL after the words "download them as a tarball" is to https://download.tarantool.org/tarantool/1.10/src/ not github. And it is not impossible to build from what is on github, I do it myself frequently. I believe this issue should be closed.

'clone or download' means the options in this menu on GitHub:

'Download ZIP' gives an archive without submodules. It cannot be built.

So I'm okay with 'clone the tarantool repository', but 'clone or download' conducts a user to the wrong way.

BTW, there is no reason to give two links to GitHub, because the menu on the screenshot above gives the same clone URI.
