The monthly gem5 Developers' Meeting will be held on August 8th at 4pm UTC.
Agenda:
Discussion on Bugs in gem5 from Fuzzing with SearchSYS:
Karine (KCL) will present bugs identified using SearchSYS developed by a team of researchers from UCL and KCL. The tool combines LLMs and AFL for fuzzing system simulators with specific mutators fit for fuzzing binaries sensibly. The discussion aims to:
Context: SearchSYS began as a response to the 2023 SSBSE gem5 challenge, winning the competition. It employs automated testing techniques like fuzzing, genetic algorithms, and code coverage guidance to test system simulators like gem5. By automating input generation through LLMs and diversifying it further with AFL++ and new mutation operators designed for this task, SearchSYS efficiently identifies bugs in gem5, including missimulations and missing implementation issues.
We may add additional topics as the meeting approaches.
