At NST-ADYPU, students often miss out on exciting campus events — workshops, fests, and hackathons — due to scattered communication across Slack, WhatsApp, or word of mouth. At the same time, event organizers face difficulties in finding volunteers and estimating student turnout, relying on repeated Google Forms and guesswork to manage everything.

Campus Buddy brings everything under one roof with a student-first, modern web app that:

• Allows clubs to create/manage events
• Provides personalized dashboards and profiles
• Lets students quickly add events to their calendar with one click
• Features role-based authentication for secure access
• Supports volunteer registrations for events
• Will soon support features like gamification, and email reminders

Getting Started as a Contributor

1. Fork this repo

2. Clone your fork

   git clone https://github.com/your-username/campusbuddy.git

3. Install Frontend dependencies

   cd frontend
   npm install

4. Install Backend dependencies

   cd ../backend
   npm install

5. Setup Environment Variables

6. Start Development

   Backend:

   npm start

   Frontend:

   npm run dev

7. Create a new branch

   git checkout -b feature/your-feature-name

8. Make your changes and & commit

   git commit -m "Add: your feature description"

9. Push and create PR

git push origin feature/your-feature

Note: All .env.local files are ignored — never push secret keys or tokens.

Don't forget to configure .env.local (and keep it out of version control).
