The main objectives were to identify the culturally significant plant species including their families and overall similarity in used reports of plants for different species with special emphasis to medicinal plants among the indigenous communities (twelve communities). Similarity and dissimilarity of plant used among communities could also be analysed on the basis of disease groups.

A system has also been built using the collected dataset. In this system medicinally important plant species and non-medicinal indigenous plants have been included. Information about the studied indigenous communities has also been included. Botanical, pharmacological and indigenous language dictionaries have been included in order to understand the total information.

The search option has been improved with different user friendly options. If anyone wants to search about any plants from the system then system gives all information about the plant including scientific names and synonyms, local and vernacular names, English names, status of plants with description, using information and distribution in Bangladesh. In the system anyone able to search for medicinal and non-medicinal plants using scientific name, genus, family, local name, tribal name, disease name and English name etc separately.
