Limitation: Change Subscriber Email Address via `subscriber.update()`

I just tried to further improve a sync feature between our platform and MailerLite to make sure that a users request to change their email address on our system would also be reflected in the MailerLite automations & subscription.

But as far as I can see, the subscriber.update API does not allow that?

Is this a limitation that is being worked on and possibly will be lifted in the future? Or do I have to follow the workaround discussed in other forums to create a new user and delete the old one?

I sincerely hope for an option to update the email address, to me, that seems like an obvious and necessary function.
