GossipCon at DevConnect?

Both Beam Chain Day and libp2p Day at EthCC had a lot of content related to gossipsub improvements and simulation efforts to empirically validate improvements at scale. Is there any interest in organizing a dedicated gossipsub event focused entirely on deep diving into all of the improvement work and to coordinate subsequent research? I'm thinking that it could be a one-day event in the spirit of the KademliaCon events that have happened in the past. @MarcoPolo @raulk @ufarooqstatus @kamilsa @AgeManning @cskiraly

Potential goals:

1. Present data from simulation experiments that have happened and are happening now.
2. Design new experiments to execute in Q1 '26
3. Drive consensus around a simulation platform by going through pros/cons learned from experience with the various options
4. Get consensus on the libp2p gossipsub core spec (i.e. what is in core) and what are optional extensions.

Thoughts?

I'm asking because I'm booking venues for libp2p Day right now and have the option for providing space for such an event. I'm happy to coordinate with the EF events team so that we can localize these near each other both in space and time to make it a couple of days of Beam Chain, libp2p, and Gossipsub.

We could also take over the monthly libp2p spec calls between now and then to discuss where everybody is at and what they are all working on. The goal would be to not have to wait until November but start in on coordinating efforts now with the event being when we get together to go over findings, come to conclusions, and decide what is next for libp2p in 2026.

Sounds great. In my opinion, libp2p spec calls can provide an opportunity for broader participation and improved follow-up during subsequent meetings. More detailed discussions can take place during libp2p day.

This makes sense! In Algorand we're swithing to a p2p model and we'd be interested on participating and learning more on how other people are using it!
