attic freezes sometimes

I've been trying to use attic for my backups for the past few weeks. The backups are relatively large (a few hundred GB) and are done from an internal hard-drive onto an external hard-drive. Occasionally, attic will freeze while the system load remains high. Killing attic does not remove this usage, and the computer cannot be restarted cleanly (requiring a hard-reboot). If I re-run the attic command again, after the reboot, it completes fine. Any clue as to what is happening here? I have just now re-booted from maybe a 3-4th time this happened, so I can't get any data for you now, but I'd appreciate pointers for what to look for when it inevitably happens again.

A python stack trace would probably be helpful, if you can catch it stalling like that again.

This hasn't happened to me in awhile (using attic 0.14), so I can't even reproduce this. If it happens again, I reopen.
