Issue Counting Number of Children under Parent

Hello!
I'm newer to Apex Rollup and have been really enjoying playing around with its capabilities and looking through how this is all working under the hood!

I've put together a few Rollup Custom Metadata Records for different calculations, but I'm having trouble with one. I created a custom field, Number_of_Child_Accounts__c and am trying to populate it using a COUNT of all child accounts that have the Account Id of the parent account as the Parent Id on the child account. This is what I have as of now:

When I run off of the CMDT using Recalculate Rollup UI, only parent records are updated (as expected), but they are only updated with a 1, even if they have more than 1 child. I've tried COUNT_DISTINCT also and didn't see a difference. Am I setting up the CMDT incorrectly?

I used the first example in the Setup & Full Recalc Walkthrough, since it's similar but across 2 objects (Opportunity & Account) instead of 1 (just account), I'm not sure if this could be the issue?

@briana-cronin are your accounts in a hierarchy and you're expecting the count to roll all the way up to the ultimate parent? Or you're saying that in the setup of:

• Account Parent A
• Account Child A, Account Child B

The count is still only recalculating to 1? Because that would be unexpected. But I think I need more clarification on what you're trying to do, since you also mentioned Opportunity. Let me know, happy to help!

Hmm. I tested this out locally yesterday morning and saw my counts updating correctly - which I would expect, since without the "ultimate parent" part of this configured, an account to account rollup is more or less a basic case (the child also being the parent being the only deviation from the most typical case, right?)

If you remove your where clause (temporarily), does the count update correctly? Just trying to refine where there's a possible issue!

I appreciate you looking into this, James! Yes, this is a very basic case and the hierarchy only goes 1 level deep, so there are not any children that are also parents. I tried removing the where clause, but I'm still seeing the same thing. Here's the updated CMDT record:

I re-ran the rollup from the Recalculate Rollup UI but I'm still seeing the same thing:

The rollup field is populated with 1 (take note of Id 001E100000zSp7zIAC specifically) :

Any chance you can enable the "Is Rollup Logging Enabled" flag on the Org Defaults rollup control custom metadata record? If you keep your Salesforce developer console open while re-running the recalculation, you should see a number of logs generated (depending on how many accounts you have in this environment) - alternatively, you can drag the "Recalculate Rollups" button onto your account flexipage and try clicking it just from the parent record you're using for testing to generate a fairly succinct log file under the Log pane.

If you're open to posting that log here - or emailing it to me - that would help a lot to better understand what's going on. I typically toggle the "Debug Only" flag when viewing logs in the Salesforce developer console, as there's a whole logging framework built into Apex Rollup that I use for diagnosing issues like this.

@jamessimone - apologies for my delay here. I really appreciate your help!

I was doing all of this in my developer sb, which was refreshed. After it refreshed, I had to re-install the package and after re-installing it, I'm not seeing the issue anymore. I've also (now) installed the package and deployed the custom metadata record to our UAT and prod environments and am not seeing this issue anywhere else. I am now also unable to replicate.

Apologies for the lack of closure here, but the "turn it off, turn it back on" approach seems to have worked.
