This release provides third party executables as optional dependencies using system calls when converting files with How to Convert. They are provided here for convenience as official download links for these tools can be slow/confusing on certain operating systems.
The following binaries are provided:
FFmpeg
FFmpeg is a multimedia framework for video, audio, and other multimedia file processing.
FFmpeg with several optional parts and optimisations is licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL) version 2.0 or later.
For more information, visit: https://ffmpeg.org/
Pandoc
Pandoc is a universal document converter supporting various markup formats.
Pandoc is licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL) version 2.0 or later.
For more information, visit: https://pandoc.org/
ImageMagick
ImageMagick is a free, open-source software suite, used for editing and manipulating digital images.
ImageMagick is licensed under the ImageMagick License: https://imagemagick.org/script/license.php
Copyright @ 1999 ImageMagick Studio LLC, a non-profit organization dedicated to making software imaging solutions freely available.
For more information, visit: https://imagemagick.org/
These files are unmodified binaries obtained from official download links at the urls mentioned above.
For How to Convert to detect them successfully, they should be extracted in the following path: ~/.howtoconvert/ (Mac/Linux) or C:\Documents.howtoconvert (Windows). You can also specify their installed location manually from the "Support more file type" menu.
If these tools are already installed locally and can be run from the terminal (under names ffmpeg, magick and pandoc), then downloading from this release is not necessary and How to Convert will detect and use them automatically.
