This overlap issue happens because the logic for placing a new operator when clicking the plus sign likely sets its coordinates to the same position as the original node, causing them to stack on top of each other. The relevant UI logic is managed in the React components for the flow canvas, especially in web/src/pages/flow/canvas/index.tsx, but there isn't currently any offset or placement adjustment implemented for new nodes added this way. No recent pull requests or issues address this bug or provide a workaround, so this appears to be an open UI issue in v0.20.4 and the referenced commit.
You can track or adjust the placement logic in the canvas/node UI code if you want to experiment with a fix yourself, but there is no user-facing configuration or workaround available at this time.
