Darkstalkers Chronicles problem - characters not visible on select screen

Hi I'm currently using version ppsspp-v0.9.9-34-gb7ac539-windows-amd64 of the emulator and when I enter any game mode, arcade for example, I cannot see characters on select screen. When I select anything in blind and the stage loads up there is nothing visible, no hp bars, no characters, only stage background. It also occurred in 0.9.8 various versions. I downloaded the latest version for testing, but the problem is still happening. Is it possible to fix it somehow? In other 2D beat'em ups like Street Fighter or Samurai Showdown everything works fine.

Well, I guess it might be drawing directly to VRAM. Does a breakpoint on 0x04088000 size 0x40000 catch anything?

Me too, I have the same problem

When is the "Buffered rendering" mode, selection of options, and the game (characters, setting, etc.) is not displayed, there is only little graphic. But if the game is very fast, is noted for the speed of sound without being able to play the game.

But if it is marked with "Read to memory framebuffers (CPU)" or "Read to memory framebuffers (GPU)" is displayed, everything but the game speed is very low, that also depends on your CPU and graphics card, like other games that have the same speed problem.

The Non-buffered rendering (speedhack), is not very usable for this game.

But almost most games use the "Buffered rendering" mode, so you get better performance.

My rendering mode was set to Buffered rendering so "The Non-buffered rendering (speedhack), is not very usable for this game." that's not an issue. However as kirous wrote, when I've put it into read frame buffers from GPU's memory everything worked fine. As long as I have Radeon 7850 with 2GB of gfx memory speed remains in 60fps. Since it's 2D fighting game there should be no huge framerate drops when setting emulator into that mode. However I do not have any speed problems with Tekken Dark Resurrection in that mode, so maybe I'll stick to it for a longer time and see how it works with other games.

That function is almost 100K big,don't know if I found the right thing.

Well, that's quite large, hmm. It might be some sort of jitted version from the original?

Maybe it would be enough to upload the framebuffer after each call of that function.... how many times is it called per frame?

Some of these direct writes we may never be able to support in GLES.

What if you hook that big func with REPFLAG_HOOK_EXIT, and inside the hook just log? Is the func itself called only once per frame?

If so, maybe we can use that to upload the framebuffer (both if necessary.) I doubt any other games are gonna have such a huge func that will collide.
