If the WebTranslate doesn't work in your Thunderbird, make sure you have Cookies enabled!

click the main toolbar icon / Settings:

click the "Privacy & Security" tab and make sure "Accept cookies from sites" is enabled:

If the WebTranslate was working before, and only now got broken, you can try to reinstall it.
BUT, it's important to restart Thunderbird after uninstalling it. Otherwise the local settings/databases won't be recreated.
In some case, the translator provider (or the integration) may be broken, and the best you can do is choose a different provider.
You can do this in the Settings page / Translation provider:
