Grid Atlas is a PNNL and NREL led initiative focused around generating realistic datasets and metadata for distributed energy systems.
Our goal is to enable transparency, reproducibility, and collaboration in building the next generation distribution dataset.
Project | Description |
---|---|
grid-meta | A repository for extracting dehydrated metadata for distribution power grid model. |
grid-reducer | A repository for performing network reduction in distribution system power flow model. |
dss-ai | A repository for interacting with OpenDSS model using LLM. |
We welcome contributions of all kinds — code, documentation, ideas, and feedback.

We aim to:
- Empower researchers, regulators, utilities and engineers to share and model distributed energy systems easily.
- Promote open standards and modular software architectures.
- Lower the barrier for cities, utilities, and academics to collaborate on energy data.
- Python, Pydantic, Pytest
- GitHub Actions, Ruff
- Open standards: JSON Schema, YAML
