Chrome: "This extension was turned off because it is no longer supported"

I just noticed that Chrome on my work PC does no longer seem to allow the use of the ClearURLs extension:

Any idea why this might be and if anything can be done about it?
Is it "just" Google not liking the functionality?

Or could it be related to the (maybe still not optional) download and unlimited storage for the log mode?

Would like to continue using this extension if possible.

It’d due to Manifest V2 deprecation, see #326.

ClearURLs will no longer be available in Google Chrome due to the removal of the onBeforeRequest API. However, you can still manually install ClearURLs in Chrome-based browsers that continue to support Manifest V2 (MV2) and the onBeforeRequest API.
