There are certain successful "patterns" for constructing a team in this game which are proven effective. No team (except perhaps Lucifer or Egyptian) is really universal, but it's important to understand the general design space experienced players live in when building their teams.
- 4/2/2 Team: A common team pattern containing monsters of only one color, backed up by a Greek (2x ATK/HP to a color) and Norse (2x ATK/RCV) leaderskill for that color. Powerful because you can use multiple orb-changing abilities for reasonable damage, while being much more survivable than glass cannon teams with no defensive stats. A solid all-around team for doing day-to-day content, although the sheer numbers in Mythical dungeons will usually require a different approach. Only Red, Green, and blue have 4/2/2 teams. This team is popular because fully evolved starter dragons share Norse leaderskills, meaning that this team can be constructed without any REM-only monsters.

1/4/4 Team: A common team pattern containing monsters of only one color, backed up by two copies of an Angel (2x HP/RCV to a color) leaderskill. 1/4/4 teams are as defensively sturdy as it's possible to get in PAD, and therefore can be used to (slowly) clear high-level content which would kill a 4/2/2 team. Unfortunately, having no attack modifier is far too obnoxious for general daily use.
- Astaroth / Amon / Chaos Devil Dragon / Drawn Joker / Awoken Hera / Lucifer abuses counters against Descended bosses.
- Gabriel / Siren / Echidna / Ice Golem / Hera-is / Gabriel destroys Goemon
-
Lucifer Team: A specific variant of the 1/4/4 team, using Seraphim of Dawn Lucifer as the leader monster. Monodark Lucifer teams have the same durability as other 1/4/4 teams, but rely on Lucifer's active skill for damage. It does 300,000 damage to a single target and reduces your HP to 1. In combination with Gravity monsters like Hera and Hades, Lucifer teams can destroy even endgame HP sponge bosses with relative speed. This team is infamous for being a one-stop solution to virtually every single piece of content this game has, clearing them all in perfect safety.
- Lucifer / Rainbow Keeper / Echidna / Awoken Hera / Awoken Hera / Lucifer
-
Egyptian Team: A team relying on the powerful damage multiplier leaderskills of the Egyptian gods. Usually refers to either Isis (3x damage for attacking with 3 colors) or Horus (4x damage for attacking with 4 colors). With a ridiculous 12x or 16x total damage multiplier, Egyptian teams can clear almost any dungeon by killing enemy monsters before they can attack. Even most bosses are easily dispatched if you can use active abilities which delay their turns. Similar teams can be built with the new Chinese gods introduced in 5.3.
- Isis / Cu Chulainn / Echidna / Zeus / Awoken Hera / Horus
- Horus + Zeus or Isis + Zeus hybrid teams are popular for Zeus Descended
-
Zeus Team: A team using two Awoken Zeus (3x attack when at full HP). This 9x team seems less poweful than Egyptian teams, but Zeus' active skill reduces enemy HP by 35%. In other words, Zeus teams reduce the boss' HP to 42% before the fight even begins, as long as you can find a safe spot to stall for your cooldowns before reaching the boss. The tension between having to keep Zeus' leaderskill activated and having to stall against trash for your active skills makes Zeus teams relatively difficult to use. However, they are popular in part because anyone who can clear the admittedly difficult Zeus Descended dungeon can obtain a Zeus.
- Zeus / Echidna / Viper Orochi / Valkyrie / Verche / Zeus
-
Ra Team: A specific variant of the Egyptian team, using Sun Deity Ra (6x damage for attacking with all 5 colors at once). While 12x or 16x teams may struggle against the ridiculous HP counts in absolute endgame dungeons, there is nothing at all which 36x damage cannot dispatch in short order. Unfortunately, it is difficult to guarantee consistant activation of Ra's leaderskill even if you are literally cheating. This makes Ra teams unreliable and expensive in stones, and therefore a last--if absurdly powerful--resort for many players. The Chinese god Kirin is introduced in 5.3, and plays in a similar fashion.
- Ra / Red Carbuncle / Blue Carbundle / Green Carbuncle / Dark Carbuncle / Ra for all I care
-
Goemon Team: A team relying upon the 25x damage multiplier of two copies of Goemon, the Thief (5x damage when below 20% HP). These teams stack massive amounts of HP and attempt to activate the leaderskill on the first floor of a dungeon before sweeping. Most Goemon teams minimize their RCV using evolved Titans, in an attempt to avoid healing past 20% once the sweep has begun. Extremely dangerous because reviving from a stone restores you to full HP, thereby turning off Goemon's active and ruining your whole run. Nevertheless, 25x damage is enough to casually destroy virtually any boss in the game, and Goemon himself is relatively easy to obtain.
- Goemon / Freyr / Horus / Titan / Titan / Goemon (fire megaburst variant)
- Goemon / Siegfried / King Bubblie / Titan / Titan / Goemon (75x physical variant)
-
Resist Team: A team relying upon monsters which reduce damage from certain colors by 50-60%. Mathematically, this is equivalent to having 2x RCV and 2x HP. If you can resist every color in the dungeon, two resist leaders is as strong as a 1/4/4 team, with the added bonus that your subs can be any color. The Toydragons and Roman Gods, both of which resist two colors at once, can have powerful active skills (in particular, Neptune's absurd poison is often used to farm Two Heroes or Ocean of Heaven).
- Toytops + Dark Neptune for Two Heroes
- Flare Drall + Megalodran for Goemon Descended
- Chaos Devil Dragon + Odin for Hera Descended
-
Resolve Team: A team relying upon Ogre's leaderskill (You cannot die to any single hit, as long as you have more than 70% HP). In general, Ogre is paired with a monster who can heal you every turn and low team HP. No single boss in a Normal dungeon can kill a resolve team, though Technical bosses will often have multiple-hit attacks. The hardest part of using a Resolve team is usually fighting through the trash mobs before the boss, which are a threat due to your low maximum HP and lack of stat/damage multipliers.
- Armor Ogre / Dragon Seed / Dragon Seed / Dragon Seed / Dragon Seed / Siren the Enchanter for Friday
-
VO/Ammy Team: A variant of the Resolve team relying on the REM gods Viper Orochi (a Resolve which activates at 50% instead of 70%) and Amaterasu Ohkami (who heals for more than other autohealers). This team can support more HP than a normal Resolve team, and can therefore slot in more powerful subs. When properly built, it has the stats to challenge extremely high-level normal dungeons such as Hera Descended and Starlight Sanctuary that are beyond the reach of normal Resolve teams. Unfortunately, most other endgame dungeons are Technical, and contain multihitting attacks which will ruin this strategy.
- Viper Orochi / Lilith / 3 Nukers / Amaterasu for Hera
-
Odin/Ammy Team: A team which abuses Odin's leaderskill (1/5 damage received if you're at max HP) and Amaterasu Ohkami's powerful healing each turn. A similar idea to VO/Ammy, although Odin's leadskill cannot soak up an unlimited amount of damage. In exchange, Odin's high stats and the lack of any need to minimize maximum HP makes this team much more reliable against the trash mobs before the boss. For this reason, this team is generally preferred to VO/Ammy.
- Amaterasu Ohkami / Rainbow Keeper / Rainbow Keeper / Rainbow Keeper / Lilith / Odin for Hera
-
9x Monotype Team: A team based around monsters of a specific type with one of the monsters whose leaderskill provides a 3x damage multiplier for the type. The most popular choices are the "Heartbreaker" monsters--Siegfried boosts Physical, Cu Chulainn boosts Balanced, and Valkyrie boosts Healers. Although these 9x teams are usually far weaker than their 12/16x Egyptian counterparts for endgame content, you do not have to fulfill any special conditions for the damage boost. Many experienced players keep a 9x team on hand to quickly and brainlessly farm lower-level dungeons such as Lava Tube or Ocean of Heaven.
- Siegfried / Titan / King Bubblie / Light Golem / Heaven Neptune / Siegfried
- Valkyrie / Echidna / King Shynee / Valkyrie / Valkyrie / Valkyrie comedy Hera team
-
Vampire Team: A monodark team based around the Vampire family's leaderskill (2x attack to dark monsters). If the resulting 4/1/1 team sounds weak to you, that's because it is. This team is only notable because historically, it has been the only realistic team capable of clearing Zeus for players without Egyptians or Lucifer in a sane number of stones (Goemon is just on the border of viable, and his dungeon is beatable with strong monocolor teams). In other words, this is the only path to ultimate power for unlucky non-IAP players.
- Vampire / Chaos Dragon Knight / Echidna / Awoken Hera / Awoken Hera / Zeus
- The above team is basically the only non-IAP composition that works period; high levels and skilled CDD/Echidna required.
