Important notice: In SpoolEase device firmware versions prior to 0.1.10, Network Update is not working and will also not present latest available version to update due to TLS certificates which have expired recently.

To upgrade to the lates version from one of those versions, you'll have to use the Upgrade button on the right of the page at https://www.spoolease.io. Make sure to NOT erase device so your current configuration will be kept.

The new certificates expire in a year from now, and along that time I will update the firmware when new certificates are available.

SpoolEase 0.2.1 with multi-printer support is now available. Documentation is pending, but here’s what’s new:

• Multiple printers can be configured via the Web-Config.
• SpoolEase connects to all printers simultaneously.
• Swipe left to switch printers (reveals a screen to select one).
• Scanning a tag and loading it into any printer’s AMS works regardless of which printer is active—SpoolEase will auto-switch to the correct one.
• Tags encoded on one printer can be used on another; if a matching pressure advance profile exists (same name), the correct K value is set automatically.
• A tag symbol appears on trays where tagged spools were loaded (tracked while SpoolEase is running).
• Various minor improvements included.

SpoolEase-Console 0.3.1 and SpoolEase-Scale 0.3.1 are now available at spoolease.io.
OTA updates (network update) from 0.2.x are not yet released, so to upgrade you should use the upgrade path on spoolease.io. Users on 0.3.0 can upgrade via network.
Don't forget to update both SpoolEase-Scale (bottom of it's Web Config), and SpoolEase-Console

In addition to Scale support, this release includes several enhancements. Highlights:

• Easy Web-Config: Access by scanning the NFC module (PN532) with a phone; security key auto-filled
• Web-Config Always Enabled
• Extended Tag Info: Add Brand, Material Subtype, Color Name, and Notes via phone. Access by scanning the NFC module or browsing the URL shown in the Encode page title
• Custom Filaments CSV: Can now be generated directly via Web-Config—no need for SpoolEase-Desktop
• Filament3D.org Update: Custom filament info now uses Web-Config-compatible CSV format and is stored locally on the phone after scanning
• Tag Info Display: Filament and tag data shown when pressing a slot or double-pressing staging (use the custom filaments list)
• Context-Aware Redirects: Console root redirects to Web-Config or Encode app based on context
• Secure Key via URL: Security key can be passed via URL fragment (#sk=...)
• Persistent App Links: Combining context-aware redirects, secure URL fragments, and mDNS allows creating a permanent, app-like mobile shortcut to the right app view
• Spool Core Weight Update: Core weight can be updated without reweighing the spool

Extended Tag Info lays the groundwork for a future spool repository, enabling tracking of spool weights and remaining filament per spool. I recommend switching to this version now so newly encoded tags already include this data—while you can add it later, it’s better to start capturing it right away.

Detailed usage instructions haven’t been updated yet in the usage guide. Let me know if they’re needed or if the usage is self-explanatory as is.

I need your help testing a new feature that uses the SD card. It’s simple but useful—it saves tag info (the green tag shown after loading a spool).
Future ,and really major, features will also rely heavily on the SD card.

To help: insert a formatted Micro SD card into the slot on the back of the display, update to v0.3.3, and use it as usual. That’s it. This helps test compatibility with different SD cards and boards.

X1C users: this also fully fixes the issue with K values being forgotten. With v0.3.3 and an SD card, even SpoolEase restarts will retain the values.

And most important: Let me know if you've seen this message and then again if you’re using it!

0.3.3 RC1 is available for upgrade from 0.3.2 at https://www.spoolease.io/console.html#firmware

And SD card is not mandatory for using it, only the persistence feature(s) are/will require it. The X1C K restore for example works w/o an SD card, but only as long as SpoolEase is up. If it's turned off while the printer is off then K will not be remembered (so you must have one of them running at any given time to not forget the K value).

Just released SpoolEase Console version 0.3.4 (for manual flash and over OTA) which adds a few quality of life features.

• Restore slot data on SpoolEase Console restart (useful for tag info and pressure advance (K) values on X1C) - requires SD Card installed
• Automatically detect brand and filament color from slot data when available
• Restore pressure advance (K) values after printer restart (primarily for X1C)
• Refine filament/tag info title display to reduce clutter and distinguish between auto-detected data and data encoded on the tag
• Fixed issue with configuring a large number of custom filaments or spool entries
• Improved tag formatting accuracy when the tag is not pre-formatted

This is the first version to support an SD card.
The card is optional, but I recommend using one for full functionality. It must be pre-formatted as FAT or FAT32 (not exFAT or others). The easiest way to format it is using your printer’s built-in format option. A small-capacity card is sufficient.

The next major release will introduce a significant new feature, which I believe is as meaningful as the NFC and Weight features, especially useful if you’re also using SpoolEase Scale — so I highly suggest setting that up if you haven’t already.
