[Bug]: termux-reload-settings doesn't apply configuration in termux.properties (even after device restart)

Problem description

Note: Happy to build a debug install from source if additional logging would be helpful

I have modified the default in .termux/termux.properties to include

use-black-ui=false
...
enforce-char-based-input = true

Steps to reproduce the behavior.

Running termux-reload-settings seems to have no effect, even after restarting the device and re-running trs

What is the expected behavior?

Theme is dark and no longer encountering missing characters until space bug.

System information

• Termux application version: 0.118.2 (F-Droid)
