Friends of the Urban Forest revitalizes San Francisco's urban forest, fostering community and environmental leadership.
Employees
We provide opportunities for employees to find their passion, engage in their communities, and double their impact.

Double your impact, amplify your giving
GitHub employees can double their impact up to $15,000/year through our company match program and receive $25 for every 1 hour of volunteering to donate to a nonprofit of their choice.

- GitHub partners with Friends of the Urban Forest annually to plant, prune, and protect tens of trees across San Francisco with employee volunteers. Our teams help support Friends of the Urban Forest’s mission to grow a healthier urban canopy and build greener, more resilient neighborhoods, while learning about sustainability in the place many employees live and work.
Our Culture of Giving
Our GitHub Gives program provides resources and empowers employees to support the causes they are most passionate about. Through their time, skills, and financial contributions, GitHub employees power a giving-driven culture that uplifts nonprofits across the globe. Our GitHub Gives program has seen tremendous growth over the years, amplifying impact across critical areas like humanitarian response, sustainability, and developer skilling.

Hubber Champions
Our Hubber Champion ambassador program activates GitHub employees to rally their peers around the causes they care about. Champions lead volunteer events and giving initiatives across regions and teams, helping to foster connection and purpose companywide. Each year, the program continues to grow, building a more diverse network of passionate advocates driving social impact from within.

Skills-based volunteering
GitHub's skills-based volunteering program connects developers passionate about social impact with organizations in the social sector. Through short-term, high-impact projects, we match skilled employees with partners to help tackle their technical and strategic challenges.
One of the best things about being a Hubber is being encouraged to give time and money through GitHub matching. I have run a couple of giving events at offsites and raised funds for several nonprofits.

GitHub offers many events which create a strong sense of community and giving. Taking part in the events for social impact is motivating and rewarding.
