The last week was committed to better stability in the product, plus an exciting update to how your message counts work (tl;dr, you get more of them!).
We've also polished the interface for faster responses, added AI chat suggestions, enabled direct image backgrounds on elements and enhanced the speed of the builder.

🚀 New Features

Credits now rollover month-to-month

Now credits rollover month-over-month! We’ve refactored our subscription backend to make it so any unused credits from just the last month get added to your current month. Also, we made errors not count towards your overall credit usage. enable credit returns when the AI fails as well as credit rollovers.

AI Chat Suggestions

The chat now proactively suggests new prompts for you to use based on your current design context, making it ultrafast to iterate and refine your projects. You can tab-up from the input box and hit “Enter” to quickly bring the prompts down into the chat.

Image Background Application

You can now add image backgrounds directly to elements from the visual editor. Drag and drop or select images as backgrounds, all without needing to write code manually.

File and Folder Creation

Added the functionality to create new files and folders directly in the Onlook’s code editor. You can now design, code and organize your project structure without leaving the builder.

⚡ Improvements

Fresh UI updates

• Image Background Controls: Complete new interface for applying and managing image backgrounds with multiple fit options (fill, fit, stretch, center, tile, auto)
• Enhanced Settings Modal: Better layout with improved scrolling behavior and pinned action buttons for easier navigation
• Color Picker Refinements: Enhanced tab styling with better hover states and optimized scroll behavior for color selection

Performance Optimizations

• Pages load way faster: We optimized script loading strategy to improve initial page load times
• Image assets load faster: Production builds now use CDN for better asset delivery and faster loading globally
• Reduced System Load: Eliminated unnecessary file writes to improve overall application performance
• Improved AI Model Performance: OpenRouter is now our default AI model provider in production (it was previously used as a fallback), delivering more reliable and faster responses in the chat.

🐛 Bug Fixes

• Fixed issues with running commands in the development environment, making the workflow more reliable (and paving the way for some exciting stuff)
• Multiple improvements to script preloading, including better validation and more consistent execution
• Improved logging to only show relevant "no subscription" messages, reducing unnecessary notifications
