"TypeError: extra keyword arguments given" for machine.Timer

I'm trying to create and start a timer, but am getting this error TypeError: extra keyword arguments given. I're tried creating a Timer and calling its init a few different ways:

bpm_timer = Timer()
bpm_timer.init(period=250, mode=Timer.ONE_SHOT, callback=self.turn_off_bpm_led)

bpm_timer = Timer(period=250, mode=Timer.ONE_SHOT, callback=self.turn_off_bpm_led)
bpm_timer.init()

bpm_timer = Timer(period=250, mode=Timer.ONE_SHOT, callback=self.turn_off_bpm_led)
bpm_timer.init(period=250, mode=Timer.ONE_SHOT, callback=self.turn_off_bpm_led)

but I get that error on which ever line has the arguments first. I based my code on the examples in the docs, but am still getting that error. Is this a bug?

Does it happen as well if you just use

bpm_timer = Timer(period=250, mode=Timer.ONE_SHOT, callback=self.turn_off_bpm_led)

In that case, calling Timer.init() would stop the timer.

are you looking at the source at HEAD/Preview , or at the versiosn you have been testing with .
reason I ask is that IIRC the 'hard' keyword has been a very recent addition.
Checking the git blame makes that quite clear.

Thank you for this. I tried v1.26.0-preview.477 and it does, indeed, recognize the 'hard' parameter. Who would have though that the documentation

That's because you're looking at the /latest/ documentation branch. It's always ahead of the release. If you want to read the release docs, look at /v1.25.0/

(docs.micropython.org seems a little unwell at the moment, though)

This is the documentation for the latest development branch of MicroPython and may refer to features that are not available in released versions.
If you are looking for the documentation for a specific release, use the drop-down menu on the left and select the desired version.
