I raised the issue to MATE team last month. mate-desktop/mate-desktop#646 The failure of MATE team to contact Debian/Ubuntu team and the failure of Debian/Ubuntu team to contact MATE team combined together is... sad. |

As far as I can tell, there really aren't many developers left. It doesn't look like much has happened. Unfortunately, it seems the one person left doesn't really have the knowledge to continue the project. It feels like the writing has been on the wall for this for awhile. |

I opened a discussion in this category because I think it fits this situation better.
The situation is as follows: the Mate Desktop packages in Debian, Ubuntu and Linux Mint are outdated, at version 1.26, and we are already at 1.28, and no, they are not outdated because they are LTS distros, even in the normal versions of Ubuntu they are outdated, as well as in Debian Sid.
Linux Mint only has 3 DEs available, and one of them is Mate Desktop, I would like to know if you can do something about this, since I assume you will not remove the Mate version because of the outdated packages, but leaving it with such outdated packages is also not a good idea.
