Programmatically select/annotate text in PDF

Hi, I have a slightly random use case where I'd like to have an AI offer suggestions in the form of highlighting and annotating text. I was wondering if embedpdf and the different packages had a way to programmatically access the PDF content and call highlight or annotate functions on the different parts of the PDF and have that render for a user. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.
