Denied Github Copilot for student

Hi everyone,

Hello GitHub Education Team,

I am a student at FPT University (Vietnam).
My student ID card shows the school name in Vietnamese as "TRƯỜNG ĐẠI HỌC FPT",
which is equivalent to "FPT University" in English.

My full name on the student ID matches my GitHub profile: [].

I have attached a photo of my student ID along with an English translation.
Please let me know if any additional information is needed to verify my academic status.

Hi @DinhViet04,

Make sure to fill in your billing info and GitHub profile with your full name exactly as it appears on your academic transcript. Then log out and log back into GitHub before reapplying, because the application system gets stuck in a loop even after the required information has been updated.

If you still get rejected, submit the application using another device, such as a smartphone or another PC.

If none of the above works, I recommend you contact support by opening a ticket here, select "Other" and explain your problem.

Since your ID is in Vietnamese ("TRƯỜNG ĐẠI HỌC FPT") but you are likely selecting "FPT University" (English) in the dropdown menu, the OCR (text reader) will almost certainly reject it because the text doesn't match.

Here is the specific strategy that works for FPT students:

1. The "Portal Strategy" (Best Success Rate)

The automated system often struggles with handwritten or separate translation papers. Instead of just the ID card:

• Open the FPT Academic Portal (FAP) or your student CMS on a laptop screen.
• Navigate to a page that shows your full name, student ID number, and the school logo.
• If the portal has an option to switch the language to English, do that.
• Hold your physical Student ID card in front of the screen.
• Take one photo capturing both the ID card and the laptop screen.

2. Check the School Dropdown

Go back to the application form. Search for your school name in Vietnamese ("TRƯỜNG ĐẠI HỌC FPT").

• If the Vietnamese name appears in the dropdown, select that one.
• If you select the Vietnamese name in the menu, the bot will expect the Vietnamese text on your ID, and it will pass much easier without needing a translation.

3. Formatting the Translation (If you must use it)

If you stick with the English dropdown and the ID card:

• The translation cannot be a separate file.
• The translation cannot be a separate image.
• You must take a single photo that contains your ID card sitting on top of the translation document. The bot scans one image only.

4. Important: Location

Ensure you are physically in Vietnam and near the campus when you hit the "Submit" button. If you are using a VPN or are currently traveling abroad, the application will be auto-rejected regardless of your documents.
