Components, how do they work?

I haven't found any documentation about components. How do they work? How can I define my own HTML? When I add them to a page, do I add a copy or will the content change everywhere the component was included when I change the base component inside the component editor later?

Hi, I am not sure if I understand the question correctly. But there is a detailed description on how they work before you add the first one. It works the same way it works on pages.
