We've been accepted into the Docker Open Source program! This gives us a lot of benefits for maintainers, but one of the requirements is that we need a detailed project description on each of our Docker Hub pages. We'll need to ensure that each of our images (https://hub.docker.com/orgs/otel/repositories) has appropriate metadata. We should probably create a consistent readme/documentation experience that we can roll out across all our images.

The exact requirements are --

If you haven’t already, please take the time to update your project’s Hub pages to include a detailed project description, links to your project source code, as well as contributing guidelines, and a link to your organization’s website. Projects lacking this information may not receive the Docker Sponsored Open Source badging for their images on Docker Hub.
