How to I edit the save file to get the turbo jetboard without completing the stupid challenge? This has me ready to uninstall the entire project.

Up to you to figure that out. I'm sorry that a completely optional addition to the original game with a requirement that makes you engage with its mechanics has made you feel like you need to uninstall.

For anyone wanting an actual solution, go into debug mode and fly directly to the valves. It's a pain to navigate the "upside down" but after a few attempts you should finish with about 5 seconds to spare.
