For the record, all tools in CodeCompanion are based off of VS Code Copilot Chat. They include a robust JSON schema which tells an LLM how to call the tool.

If you search the discussions you'll unfortunately see gemini-2.5-pro mentioned a lot. And that's because it's terrible at function calling. The low parameter models too.

Unfortunately this is how things currently are in CodeCompanion.
