Update strategy for apps that update themself and their extensions? *ahem* *vscode*

I would really like to have UniGetUI do ALL my updating so I have one place to go for everything, but there are some applications that have auto-update features that not only update themself, but also any 3rd party extensions that are installed to that application. Famously, Visual Studio Code is one of these apps. I'm caught between letting code do the updating and knowing everything's gonna be alright and letting UniGetUI do the updating which ends up being just a partial update.

What's the consensus on how these updates should be handled and is there a discussion or issue already talking about this?

To be honest, I was not aware of this. It seems like the vscode installer should trigger a background extension upgrade
