I usually pause the glazewm before opening the games, # Disables window management and all other keybindings until alt+shift+p
# is pressed again.
- commands: ["wm-toggle-pause"]
bindings: ["alt+shift+p"] |

Hi, I’m trying to configure GlazeWM so that only workspace 9 behaves like normal Windows (all windows floating, no tiling), while workspaces 1–8 should still tile automatically. i had a problem with a few games from steam that were trying to tile or forced into weird states. Sometimes the game tries to go fullscreen but GlazeWM immediately tries to tile it, causing errors. So I wanted a workspace that works normally without tiling for every window I open.
I tried adding this rule:
window_rules:
match:
But after adding it, tiling completely stopped working in all other workspaces as well.
Now every new window defaults to floating unless I manually press alt+t to force tiling.
I also tested with a minimal config (just initial_state: "tiling", the 9 workspaces, and the above rule), but the issue persists.
Is this a bug, or am I misunderstanding how window_rules with workspace match should behave? Ideally I want:
Workspace 1–8 → windows tile by default.
Workspace 9 → windows float by default (no tiling).
Any help or clarification would be appreciated!
