vterm: cursor moving forwards instead of backwards on ESC

There is this piece of code in evil-collection-vterm.el

(defun evil-collection-vterm-escape-stay ()
  "Go back to normal state but don't move cursor backwards.
Moving cursor backwards is the default vim behavior but
it is not appropriate in some cases like terminals."
  (setq-local evil-move-cursor-back nil))

do you know what "not appropriate" means? Would this cause some issue or do you just find it not user-friendly? Personally, I'd like to move the cursor backwards like in any other buffer. I tried to set the value to t and it seems to work. But I hesitate to make this configurable and send a PR without knowing why it behaves this way.
