Using WLED segment to sync effect for center speakers?

After some trial and error, I kind of got hyperhdr to finally control WLED using SK6812.

I have a center speaker above the TV that I want to add a strip of LED to sync with part of the top portion of the LED in the top however many pixels there are running the width of the center speaker. Can I add the connection to the end of the line and use segment or would it be easier if I solder a strip of LED to where ever the center speaker would start and have those signal run in parallel to the top LED?
