Question about the Recent Rewrite

First off, I just want to say it's great to see the project back in active development — really exciting to see progress again!

I noticed that you recently rewrote the project from Go to Python, and I’m curious about the reasons behind this decision. Was it due to maintainability, performance?
Additionally, I noticed that the web interface has been revamped. While I personally preferred the old design, I’m curious about what prompted the change.

I really appreciate your interest in the project, and it means a lot to me that you took the time to share your feedback—it’s really motivating!

To answer your questions:

1. I rewrote the project from Go to Python because, to be honest, I don’t use Go much in my daily work. Python is my primary language, and I have strong expertise in it, so maintaining the project in Python is just much easier for me. Of course, this switch came with some trade-offs: higher resource usage (larger Docker image, more RAM consumption due to the interpreter), but for me, the ease of development outweighs those downsides.

2. I completely ditched ReactJS and never plan to go back. I’m not a frontend developer, and modern frontend development feels overly complex to me. I didn’t want to deal with that in a pet project, so I went with plain old HTML + a bit of JS, grabbed the first decent-looking template, and rewrote the frontend. That’s why the design changed, though I kept the general layout similar.

Totally understandable on the decisions for the rewrite.

Looks like there may be a memory leak. It was holding onto 4gb of ram for multiple days after I initially updated it. After a restart its down to just over 1gb

Edit: after a couple hours its creeped back up to 4gb of ram
