First of all, thanks so much to @Builty for his amazing work on this project. It is an absolute pleasure to work with and makes the ToneX One infinitely more useful. Your documentation in how to get it all working is also very good, and was easy to follow.

I purchased a ToneX one as a backup rig, but needed a better way to switch between multiple presets. Here's the cardboard "prototype" I'm making of how I want my backup rig to look. I'm inspired by the Line6 HX Stomp XL as far as form factor. I like having the 5 switches to switch between presets. Seeing as there are 20 presets, 4 banks of 5 makes sense. For now I'm using the top 3 switches for Tap Tempo, Delay toggle, and Mod toggle.

I'm planning to make this out of wood eventually, unless I can find a suitable sized aluminum Hammond enclosure that would fit all this. Any leads on something like that? Also, I need the ability to quickly plug in the USB C to my pc to change the loaded presets, so my plan for now is just to leave an opening on the bottom of the pedal to do this. I'm not sure there's a better way to handle this.

Biggest looks to be 200 x 120 mm, so yeah might not be big enough.

Yes, this is about 350 x 120mm. I could probably make it a bit smaller but not much

It looks like a nice expansion on my idea.
Just be a bit careful on the spacing, as you need more room inside than you would think - to allow for jacks etc.
I used a piece of 150 x 60 x 60 channel, and made it around 250 long.
I wanted it to be self powered, so had to allow for a battery too, 4 switches is enough for me, 5 banks of 4, each bank is a basic amp, with different FX as alternatives.

Here is what I build using a Hammond enclosure - inspired by @andy-k-dot 's design. The enclosure is 1456KH3BKBU Sloped which is 217x214mm

Top row controls compressor, mod, delay and reverb
Middle row are bank up and down
Bottom row is presets 1-4 for current bank

The Tonex will just fit inside with careful positioning - I'm finding I'm getting a lot of noise though so might keep it external. There's a dual usbc on the back so I can either connect the Tonex to the screen or to the computer - not massively elegant but saves opening everything up to add new tones etc

Great fun project - I had no electronics experience before starting so have learned to solder (badly), the wiring is pretty horrific but works :-D
Worst part was cutting the holes in the enclosure - switches were fine (used a drill with a step bit) but the bit for the screen took ages with a dremel. Made one tiny mistake but think it generally came out ok

Very cool setup! Thanks for posting this. This is the exact kind of thing I was hoping someone would post for inspiration. I like your button layout configuration, very useful to have dedicated bank up/down. I'm playing around with the button distance on my prototype as I find it a bit awkward to hit 2 buttons at once to switch banks. Its doable but dedicated bank buttons are great. I started off with 65mm between buttons and this felt good for individual presses but almost too far apart to easily hit 2 at once. Then I tried 60mm but now they are a bit close together for individual presses. Can't win, hahah. Maybe putting toppers on would help at 65mm. I have very few songs I play that require 5 different presets per song so 4 might be a better setup.

So you just plug the usb C into each other with a short cable when the ToneX is inside? Interesting idea. Sorry to hear about the noise, I wonder what would be causing that. Usually its the power supply that's the culprit, unless some of your components are just to close to each other, who knows.

I thought it would be nice to have the knobs on the ToneX One accessible as they work as quick bass/mid/treble controls, but you can also do that on the screen, so maybe not a big deal to have it hidden away.

Thanks for the comments - I was pretty pleased with how it came out. Re: the noise I think it is the power supply so not a big deal.
I did intend to have the Tonex visible but it was too difficult to cur a hole in the enclosure that was neat enough. The screen has a little lip which hides any imperfections. With the screen and iphone wireless connection I thought I dont really need access to the tonex controls anyway.
