Description
Whilst working on making the FreeCEN newsletters more accessible, especially for screen reader users, I now have a pretty good idea of how to make a PDF accessible in this way. We do not need Adobe Acrobat or any other paid software to do so.
Grackle Docs, in conjunction with Google Docs, is our answer. It is a little awkward to use and the person editing needs to know where they are heading, but the results are a step up from Google Docs alone.
I'm working on bringing the Privacy Policy up to scratch but would like some input on how best to deploy the finished PDF. Do we really want to let Google Docs host it? Is there a better way?
BTW, Chris Mahoney and I are not using Google Docs and Grackle, but rather LibreOffice (the branch of OpenOffice that is still in active development) as it is more convenient for the workflow that suits Chris.
- decide on placement of updated policy — Google Docs or somewhere else?
- when complete, update Accessibility statements on all 4 sites
- Are there any other PDFs that should be made more accessible?
