Rhoda reports:
Cross county piece moves - there is an issue with place names. If a parish or piece need to be moved to a new county, there needs to be a new district and piece for them to be attached to. There must be a place name attached to a D,C or CP in order to create them, otherwise they can't be saved. A place can only exist in its own county in the gazetteer, so for the new district, piece and parish, their original place name will not exist in the new county. To get round this, Kirk gave me a csv file which I sent him (now Anne) to create a new D,P and CP in the new county which magically are attached to the original place names. Many, many hundreds of these were moved. The suffix A is added to to the new piece number. The issue is, if I have to go back at at a later date and change anything in a cross-county piece or CP, that place name vanishes (silently - I only find out later when someone tries to incorporate and they get the message "Cannot be incorporated as the file does not belong to a FreeCEN2 place") and I have no way to reconnect it if the place name is not in the new county gazetteer list.
